The Night We Got Engaged..

Its funny when I look back at these pictures and I think about how the whole time Gilbert knew he was going to propose to me. I had no idea at all it was going to be that day. In fact I had told people that there was no way it was happening on that day, but he totally surprised me. Here are a few pictures from that night that we just uploaded...

Saying yes to the dress

Last week I had an appointment scheduled by my moh at David's bridal. I went with the thought that people search forever for their dress. So I told her a bit about what I was looking for and off we went. First off you have no idea what goes on underneath all of that dress. I was so fluffed up it was crazy. I have always been a huge fan of tulle but once I tried a few of them on I quickly came to realize that dancing was not an option in them if I could hardly move in it. So after three dresses the assistant handed me a dress that was not on my selection but she thought I should give it a try. You often hear about people saying that as soon as they put it on they knew it was their dress. Well, first off I am not sure whose bright ideas is it to not allow for mirrors in a wedding shops dressing room. It's just cruel if you ask me but whatever so I get this dress on and walk out. Immediately as I looked up at the mirrored wall in front of me I knew and then I looked at my mommy who was sobbing. I knew that it was my dress. I tried a bunch more on but all I thought about was my dress so I put it on again. Rang the bell for luck and made a wish which is a tradition at the shop.

A Place to Where Our Ideas Rest

Almost immediately after I said yes to mr Maldonado I ran out to buy a scrapbook
To capture the process. I thought it would be something neat to share with our kids. I would of loved to have had known the details of my mom & dad's wedding day. Was she stressed out? How did she find her dress? And what was most important to her in that day. So with that said here is a sneak peak at our scrapbook of wedding ideas.

Putting our words to action

There are many reasons why I love my future husband, the other day while watching Oprah's Life Class I discovered another one. We began talking about how little we give back to the world. So we decided to begin some volunteer work. Today we went to our local soup kitchen and helped serve lunch to those of us who are less fortunate. Many of us lose sight that at any point we could become someone in need. Gilbert and I were in charge of bread duty and gave some loaves and rolls out to people as they left. It felt good to give an hour of our time to help.

On another front we have found a bunch of ideas for save the dates. It amazes us on how much there is out there. It's crazy. So stay tuned on that and we have an appt with a reception place on Wednesday. We did a drive by yesterday and we hear a ton of good stuff about it. We will keep you updated. For some reason I can't post any pics right now so eye candy later...
